So, it's finally upon us!
The women's football has already started- ahead of the opening ceremony as usual. (GB's women just won 2-0)
Never understood why they don't just move the football finals to Sunday and then they can bring everything into the time between the two ceremonies.
More importantly, what are GB's best medal hopes?
Even more importantly, will it still go ahead? Talks of the games still being pulled due to positive covid tests.

FMOB- just read an update on the American BMX rider who faceplanted in the semi final. Those are some serious injuries:
2016 Olympic BMX gold medalist Connor Fields suffered a brain hemorrhage, a broken rib, and a collapsed lung during a crash in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic semifinals earlier this month. In the middle of his third semifinal heat, Fields' front wheel landed on another cyclist's back wheel and the collision sent him crashing face first into the ground. Fields immediately left the track in a stretcher and was taken to the hospital.

Always seems to be USA sprinters especially getting caught yet the US of A seems to sail on unaffected
And of course that Nike campus in Oregon just had Alberto Salazar dealing out the drugs BUT NOONE TOOK THEM , RIGHT?
Bit of a pain for the other 100m relay team members who will have to give back their silver medals because of C(heating) J(unkie) UJAH.

It's funny. We have notions about certain countries or regions being cleaner than others. Most of Western or Northern Europe (including ourselves) and probably Oceania.
I used to work with someone who competed in track and field a level or so below the top standard. She told me it's still fucking rife everywhere.

There are always going to be tiny countries that win one or two medals so as in that table San Marino are top with nil Gold medals.
To be honest for a reasonable comparision I'd require over 10 Golds and more than 40 medals overall.
Seems fair
Any groups .... say the England Ireland Scotland & Wales gang should split theirs evenly amongst all the countries they've huddled together with too.
5.5 Golds for England was a smashing effort given English people probably coughed up the majority of the £345m cost.

So Spain are developed enough to be World Champions at football (DONT EVEN MENTION BRAZIL) while Portugal have been European Champions.
But they incapable of mustering more than 11 Olympic Gold medals between the 3 of them because they are 'undeveloped'.
Sorry to break it to you Northern but your Team GB & Lions support makes you Scottish. In a manner of speaking. That said i suspect an affinity with bearded men in skirts is something you will embrace.
